Paris is Always a Good Idea

Musée Carnavalet, Paris - France

This is not a "must-see in Paris" kind of situation.

When it comes to planning a vacation without the kids, Paris has always been one of my top choices not because is the so called city of love, but because it offers a unique charm with its lively vibe and hidden gems. While Paris is known for being a popular destination for families, with Disneyland being a major attraction, I want to share why it's also a fantastic destination for parents seeking a romantic escape.

We usually opt for a three-day pass during our parents' getaways. While many people try to cram in as many must-see attractions as possible, we take a different approach. One of my favorite activities is leisurely strolling through the charming streets of the Marais neighborhood. This historic area is filled with boutique shops, cozy cafes, and picturesque buildings, creating the perfect ambiance for a romantic walk. I'm particularly fond of the cozy little bookshops that adorn their books with handwritten notes, adding an extra touch of charm. Our visits to the Marais neighborhood have become a tradition, and we never miss an opportunity to explore its enchanting streets.

Exploring nearby cities is a great idea. One of our favorite ones is Giverny - just one hours away from Paris.
Located just outside of Paris, Giverny is is a charming village. Famous for being the home and inspiration of renowned Impressionist painter Claude Monet, Giverny offers an unique opportunity to step into the world of this artist.

When it comes to culinary delights, Paris never fails to impress. We adore discovering on-the-go eateries and quirky spots that surprise us with their delectable treats. Among our favorites is Frenchie to Go, renowned for its mouthwatering sandwiches, and Terroirs de Avenir Boulangerie, where you can indulge in amazing pastries. As brunch enthusiasts, we really enjoyed Holly Belly, although it did tend to get a bit crowded. Make sure to reserve ahead to secure a spot. One of the reasons why I adore Paris is the abundance of hidden gems scattered throughout the city. From secret terraces to cozy wine bars tucked away in unexpected squares, and even surprisingly niche beer establishments near popular tourist attractions, Paris never ceases to amaze with its diverse culinary offerings.

While Paris undeniably offers iconic attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, I must confess that I often opt to steer clear of the busy tourist areas. Instead, I find joy in catching a glimpse of the illuminated tower from a more secluded vantage point, particularly during the evening hours when it comes alive with lights. One of my preferred spots to savor this moment from a distance is in square Rapp, located in the 7th arrondissement, this charming square is nestled in a quiet residential area.

As parents, it's crucial to nurture our relationship and create moments of intimacy that allow us to reconnect. Paris, however, holds a special place in our hearts as it provides the perfect setting for such experiences. Yet, truth be told, any place in the world can be perfect for cultivating that connection. It's the companionship that truly counts, along with the opportunity to turn down the volume on our daily chores and to-do lists, allowing ourselves to fully embrace these escapes.
